Google Learning

I thought the article was something okay to read. I agree that we learn more when we are surfing the net or looking up things on Google. I know its alot better than having to go through tons and tons of books and other material to find the information that your looking for. I also don't see the problem with the whole "comfort zone" comment. Shouldn't someone be comfortable when they are learning and really it shouldn't matter how that person is feeling as long as they're learning. However I definitely do not agree with the whole idea of changing our stimulus and how we feel after using search engines. It was an okay article but I wouldn't be hurt if I didn't have to read it again.

ALEX

The Alabama Learning Exchange or "ALEX" is a free database of information and lesson plans that can be viewed by teachers, students, and administrators. This is really neat because all the lesson plans are put on the site by other teachers. ALEX offers many different tools that an individual can choose from to get the information that they are looking for. ALEX offers many courses of study, from English and Math to Physical Education and Drivers Ed. Someone can do a search in ALEX and narrow their information down because if that information is on ALEX, its going to be good info. Another tool that is available, which is very interesting , is distant learning. Distant learning is very useful for a student that needs to take a class to receive advanced diploma or advanced placement credits and that specific class is actually not offered at that individuals school. That students can go through ACCESS and take a course through the multimedia technology at a different school that offers that course.
I really think that ALEX is a very useful tool for teachers because it gives them successful lesson plans that are put on the net by other teachers. I think that in the future I could definitely use ALEX to help better my teaching methods.

ACCESS

ACCESS or "Alabama Connecting Classrooms, Educators, and Students Statewide" is a new technology that gives students in Alabama equal access to better learning opportunities. Students are able to enroll in advanced diploma and advanced placement courses even if the required courses are not offered at that individuals school. This is a really good thing because some schools, due to low incomes, cannot afford to offer some of the classes that are need for completion of advanced diplomas or advanced placement credits. There are two types of teaching the information when dealing with ACCESS. The first is web based, in which most information is through websites and contains allot of multimedia content. The second is videoconferencing in which is based on "real time" or live feeds. I think that ACCESS is really good for teachers that are teaching the "core" subjects. I really don't think that ACCESS has much affect on PE teachers.
